Good Behaviour Policy

Here are the details regarding our good behaviour policy.

What we mean by "Good Behaviour"

GOLDEN RULES
Our expectations are simple and clear.

Follow Instructions
The children need to listen carefully to the instructions given to them by school staff and then follow the instruction.
Be kind to others
The children need to give care and consideration for other children and adults at all times without becoming aggressive or threatening.
Be polite at all times
The children need to communicate with other children and adults respectfully.
Take care of all property The children need to take care of their own property, the school's property and other children's property.
Work hard, work quietly
The children need to understand the importance of their work, concentrating on their activities and not making any unnecessary noise which may distract themselves and others.
Be honest, tell the truth

Our SIX basic rules will apply to all events and activities at school.

    This will be reinforced by.
  1. displaying the rules in prominent positions.
  2. parents and the school staff emphasising their importance.
  3. children themselves being encouraged to remind each other about them.

How do we encourage good behaviour?
We want to emphasise the value of good behaviour and be positive about the way we do it. We will use a variety of strategies to encourage good behaviour, selecting the most appropriate for the time and the situation.

The children will be taught the 'Golden rules' and their meanings from the moment they enter the school. These rules will be reinforced constantly. The rules will be followed by every adult in school.

Regular PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) activities will take place in class to reinforce appropriate behaviour.

The children will be supervised at school by the staff in a positive and friendly way which encourages mutual respect.

Good behaviour will be encouraged by the school staff giving praise by speaking to the child and by giving rewards. The type of reward will vary according to the age/need of the child and we will endeavour to make sure that the child values the reward. Rewards may take the form of:
group awards, individual awards, individual privileges, special mentions, golden time, informing parents etc.

Golden Time will allow us to reinforce expectations of good behaviour by rewarding all children who respect the Golden Rules each week. Failure to keep to the golden rules will result in lost golden time for individuals.
